Woman Lost Over $3,700 To Scammer’s Fake Website That Looked Exactly Like Airbnb
26-year-old London resident Hannah Jones found the perfect place for a trip with her friends. She read all 31 reviews from happy customers about a 10-bedroom property in Ibiza and decided to book seven nights in July at the villa through the Airbnb link the host sent her in a message on the site.
That’s where it went wrong. The link didn’t go to Airbnb, but a fake website designed to look exactly like the real thing. Hannah sent over $3,700 to book the stay, the listing vanished from the real site and Airbnb says it’s not their problem.
