Ding, Dong, Get Out!
Police in Florida have apologized to a homeowner whom they mistakenly tried to evict last week.
Jennifer Michele got a Ring alert on her doorbell camera and looked at the video to find two cops and a locksmith outside her door and drilling through the lock. She was understandably frightened and said, "I didn’t know if these people were trying to get into my house. I didn’t know if everything was OK.” Well, everything was not OK. Cops were at the wrong address and were supposed to evict her next door neighbor. Meanwhile, Jennifer was stuck with a broken lock on her front door, which the cops said would be repaired for her at no charge. But it's a good thing she was home at the time, otherwise they would have come into her house and likely removed all of her belongings. (WFLA-TV)
Scott's Thoughts:
- Everyone makes mistakes. Even police officers. Hopefully they will be more careful and be certain they have the correct address in the future.
- Imagine she was out and came home to find all of her stuff in the driveway.
- She doesn't even rent her home. She owns it, so she would never have to worry about being evicted.
