WEIRD NEWS: Who Wears Shart Shorts?

When you buy new clothes you never know for sure if someone else had previously tried them on -- but one British woman knows with 100% certainty.

Suzanne Baum received a package of clothes for her son from British retailer ASOS and opened it up to find that a pair of shorts had a stain -- and not just any stain. The smell gave her the first clue and then she noticed a poop stain in the back of the shorts. She shared a photo on her Instagram and wrote, "Dear ASOS, as a hugely loyal customer for years I have always encouraged my older kids to use your website and spend their money wisely! My 21-year-old just received an order for some shorts. On opening the plastic sealed package we could smell poo and there is the evidence on his order!" She continued, "Utterly gob-smacked/retching/in shock!"

ASOS issued a statement which reads, "We apologize unreservedly for the experience Ms. Baum and her son had when shopping with ASOS. It's clear this item fell far short of the standard we would expect to deliver. We're investigating the issue with our warehouse team as a matter of urgency and have issued a full refund alongside an ASOS voucher as a gesture of goodwill." (The Mirror)

Scott's Thoughts:

  • Clothes off the rack in the store are one thing, but you'd think that clothes that arrive in the mail would be brand new and never worn.
  • Meanwhile, who leaves a poop stain in a pair of shorts and returns them to the store?
  • This is why I'm so grossed out to try on clothes in the store.
