Kid Impersonates Mom To Trick Dad Into Getting A Puppy

Some kids will do just about anything to convince their parents to get them a pet, but one boy in the U.K. is going viral because his tactic actually worked. Noah Ley tricked his dad into getting him a puppy by pretending to be his mom on WhatsApp and sending messages to his dad. The nine-year-old even went as far as to call his dad “hun,” a phrase his mom uses.

This all went down while Noah’s parents, Kevyn and Janine, were considering getting another dog as a companion for their cocker spaniel, Jet. And when Kevyn’s friend, who breeds dogs, told him he had an eight-month-old puppy available to adopt, the dad was ready to jump on the opportunity, but mom wasn’t sure about taking on another animal. So while she thought it over, Noah saw his chance, grabbing his mom’s phone to message his dad.

The boy continued the conversation his parents had been having, pretending to be his mom. “The kids are screaming their heads off lol xx,” he wrote. “All of them want a dog.” And he followed that up with, “Kev, just get one, the kids are crying.” It was enough to convince Kevyn that his wife was on board, so he got the dog and the kids were thrilled. Luckily, their puppy, Lulu, gets to stay and Noah’s parents aren’t even mad about his Oscar-worthy text performance, but they have come up with a way to make sure they don't get phone scammed by their son again. Kevyn explains, “To make sure I’m definitely talking to Janine in the future, I’m going to have to ring her first and say ‘Is this you?’ or have a code word.”

Scott's Thoughts:

  • It’s like something out of a Disney movie and it actually worked! Well played, kid!
  • My kids never tried to do anything THIS bad.
  • You gotta watch kids with technology. They know more about it than us.
