Man Posed As Oil Baron’s Son And Scammed At Least 50 People

26-year-old Nicholas Bryant is waiting to see how long he’ll spend in jail after pleading guilty to one count of wire fraud. He had posed as the son of an oil baron and used platforms like QuickBooks to send payment confirmations to various companies for some expensive purchases he says he never intended to pay for.

In 2020 and 2021, Bryant scammed at least 50 people and wound up stealing around $1.5M in goods and services, including hiring 17 private jets, renting $30,000-a-night homes, and buying five cars. He was finally caught after a jet company went after him for not paying the $76,000 he owed them.
