There's nothing like being a boy out on the water fishing with your mom. Campbell Keenan, from Massachusetts, was on vacation in Ft. Lauderdale when they went on the excursion. While fishing, he hooked a big fish.
Campbell says he was “a little bit nervous” when he realized it was wasn't just a fish, he had a great white shark on the line! The 12-year-old says he then got “really excited” and started reeling the fish in.
“They gave the rod to me and I just started crankin’,” he said. It took 45 minutes to land the 11-foot-long shark, which weighed around 700 pounds. The boat crew said it was a “no-brainer” to have the fish mounted, but Campbell and his mom decided to tag the shark and release it.
