An assistant girls' basketball coach at a high school in Virginia has been fired after the 22-year-old woman put on a uniform and played in place of a 13-year-old member of the team.
Churchland High School in Portsmouth, Virginia says the 13-year-old girl was out of town and unable to make the junior varsity game, so assistant coach Arlisha Boykins suited up and played in her place. The girl's father told reporters, "Coaches always preach to the kids about integrity and those types of things, so I was just shocked." He added that his daughter will not attend the school next year and is exploring other options.
After a school district investigation, school leaders had a meeting with the parents of the players and reached a mutual agreement that they would not play the remainder of the season. (USA Today)
Scott's Thoughts:
- How could a 22-year-old woman really think she could pass for a 13-year-old?
- How unfair for her to put the other kids in an awkward position.
- This story comes a week after a 29-year-old woman pretended to be a 15-year-old and attended a New Jersey high school.
