Tips To Live A Longer And Healthier Life

Everyone wants to live a longer and healthier life, but it isn’t easy. A myth is that health is mostly genetic, but it turns out that’s only 25 percent of the equation with the environment being 75 percent of it. That means you have more control than you realize.

Dr. Luigi Fontana, director of the healthy longevity research program at The University of Sydney in Australia, has tips for living healthier and longer:

  • Monitor your waist size and keep it in check. Belly fat is the worst type of fat
  • Don’t eat everything in moderation.
  • Remove as much junk food, ultra-processed food, refined grains, and sugary drinks from your diet
  • Eat beans every day. The Mediterranean diet focuses on beans as the foundation.
  • Things to eat every day are: colorful vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, fruits, low-fat yogurt, olive oil, and avocado every day.
