These days, being a foodie can be pretty pricey, but new research reveals the best wallet-friendly cities for foodies.

  • WalletHub ranked 182 U.S. cities to determine which have the best and cheapest foodie scenes.
  • They compared them on 28 key indicators of foodie-friendliness, in two main categories of affordability and diversity, accessibility and quality.
  • Cities were rated on factors including the cost of groceries, food festivals per capita and accessibility of high-quality restaurants.
  • The best foodie city is Orlando, Florida, which comes in third for diversity, accessibility and quality, but 108th for affordability, so it’s fairly expensive to be a foodie there.
  • Laredo, Texas, 108th overall, is number one for affordability, while Miami, Florida, fourth overall, is first for diversity, accessibility and quality.
  • On the flip side, the worst city for foodies is Pearl City, Hawaii, which is dead last for affordability and 179th for diversity, accessibility and quality.
