Things Boomers Spend Money On That Younger Generations Don’t

There are things that the older generation finds comfort in that the younger generations simply don’t understand. Whether it’s for convenience or practicality, here are some things that the Gen Z and Millennial crowd refuse to spend money on…but the Boomer generation still does:

  • Cable TV – It’s straightforward channel access without having to learn new technology…and there’s easier access to local channels and news, which the older generation seems to care more about
  • Landlines – Many Boomers insist on having one, even though the only people who call those numbers are telemarketers, scammers, and companies doing surveys
  • Print Media – The tangible feel of a book, magazine, and catalogue makes it feel more like they’re doing something
  • Greeting Cards – The younger sect tends to go for emoji texts and social media messages, while the Boomers still enjoy appearing to have put in a little thought, time, money, and effort getting a card
  • Specialty Home Appliances – The Gen Z’ers and Millennials are the convenience, food delivery, and eat out generation who might splurge on a coffee maker. Their Boomer counterparts have no problem with specialty kitchen gear like bread makers, espresso machines, and food processors
  • Large Cars – Cars aren’t the status symbol that they once were, so having a big car isn’t the big deal that it once was
  • In-Store Shopping – The Boomers love going to a physical store to buy anything they need, and that’s something the younger crowd just doesn’t get. Yeah, you need groceries and stuff like that, but for everything else you can just click an icon on your computer and have brought to you…so why would you bother leaving home
