MORE THAN HALF OF MEN WANT MOM TO TAKE CARE OF THEM WHEN SICK

We all get sick at some point, but how well do you deal with it? A new survey suggests that your coping skills may depend on whether you’re a man or a woman.

According to the poll of 2-thousand employed U.S. adults:

  • Regardless of how old they get, two in five say their mom takes better care of them than their significant other when they’re sick.
  • In fact, 58% of men admit that when they’re sick, they still wish their moms could take care of them.
  • More than half of women (53%) prefer being left alone when they’re sick, compared to 47% of men.
  • About two-thirds (68%) of respondents like to keep it to themselves when they’re sick, 28% prefer letting others know.
  • One in four people have posted on social media about being sick at home and 60% of them also shared a “sick” selfie.
  • Overall, only a third of those surveyed say they handle being sick “extremely well.”
  • Nearly 80% of women think they handle being sick better than men, but only 30% of men say the same.
  • When they’re under the weather, 52% of people confess to abandoning at least part of their hygiene routine, but women are more likely to do so than men (59% versus 46%).
  • A third (34%) admit they’ve gone at least three days without taking a shower when they were sick at home and another 30% skip their skincare routine.
  • But some people like to stick to their routines, like 20% of men who still exercise and 49% actually working despite their illness.
  • That may be because 23% of respondents say taking a sick day off is worse than just working while sick.

Scott's Thoughts:

  • I’ll bet the women taking care of their sick men also wish their moms could do it instead!
  • Not practical for me. My mom is over 2 hours away!
  • I guess I am not the normal guy. I just want to be left alone with the TV, snacks and drinks when I am sick. I can watch all the Rocky movies in one day.
