A post in Reddit’s “Am I Wrong” section has gone viral, with thousands of users commenting and reacting to the relationship drama. It’s from a 24-year-old woman, who writes that she met a guy online who claimed to be four years older than her. They had common interests and she agreed to meet him for a drink, but when she saw him face-to-face, she shares that “he looked different, older.”
Once they started talking, she told him that he “looks different than his picture,” and he admitted that his photos were a few years old. At this point, she asks, “But you’re 28, right?” And he confessed that he’s actually 42, adding “but age is just a number.” That’s when the woman says she got the ick, told him she left her phone in her car and left without telling him goodbye.
The guy messaged to ask where she was and she told him she went home because she’s “not into older guys or being lied to.” He called her shallow and said that’s why he doesn’t give his real age. She thought the whole situation was funny, but when she told a friend about it, the friend said she was mean for leaving and not even telling him. So the woman turned to Reddit to ask if she was in the wrong for ditching him like that, and it seems most folks are on her side.
- The top comment is “If age is just a number, then why lie about it? You’re not wrong. Good for you for leaving.”
- Another user writes, “And why is he seeking out much younger women instead of women his own age, if age is just a number?”
- “Your friend is not looking out for you,” warns another Redditor. “I would not take her advice in the future. Why does she care more about some guy who is clearly waving bright red flags than she cares about you?”

Scott's Thoughts:
- If your spidey sense tells you it’s time to go, you need to listen to it!
- Such a big lie at the first meeting is a sure sign to run away!
- Is it worse that he said he was only 28 and he’s actually 42? Would it have been okay if he was just a couple years older? IF he had told the truth would she have even agreed to meet him?
