*LIST* THE BEST U.S. CITIES FOR WORK-LIFE BALANCE

The struggle to achieve work-life balance is nothing new, but it’s become even more important as concerns about mental health and burnout are on the rise. While finding the ideal balance between your career and personal life looks different for everyone, it turns out, where you live can make a big difference, too. And new research reveals the Midwest seems to be getting it right.

  • A new report reveals the best cities for work-life balance in 2024.
  • Coworking Cafe compared 100 U.S. cities with at least 200-thousand residents on metrics related to work-life balance in four main areas: mental health, affordability, remote work and commute time.
  • They rated the cities on everything from the accessibility of free-time venues and healthcare to the number of green spaces, income levels and air quality.
  • According to the research, seven out of the top 10 cities for work-life balance are in the Midwest.
  • Topping the list is Minneapolis, Minnesota, with its twin city, St. Paul, in a close second.
  • On the flip side, big cities in the Northeast were some of the worst for work-life balance. Baltimore, Maryland, is 88th, New York City is 90th and Jersey City, New Jersey, is 84th, while Newark, New Jersey, is 97th.
