Pro Tip: Don’t Use Gasoline To Start Fire Inside Your Home

New York’s Croton-On-Hudson Fire Department has issued an important warning to homeowners…don’t use gasoline when you try to start a fire inside your house. This comes after an incident last weekend where “heavy smoke” was reported coming out of a home’s chimney. It turns out that the homeowner had tried to get some action going in their fireplace by using paper soaked in gasoline as kindling. It took an hour to extinguish the flames that resulted. So, as a rule, don’t “use heavily flammable fuel to light indoor fires.” It’s something that shouldn’t need to be said…yet here we are.
