PB & Jail

An Illinois man is under arrest and charged with attempted murder for stabbing his roommate after getting into a heated argument -- an argument over peanut butter and jelly.

Police in DeKalb say 23-year-old Javaughn J. Owens stabbed the victim after the two argued over a messy peanut butter and jelly sandwich that was left on the kitchen counter. Owens is accused grabbing a butter knife and stabbing the other man five times, leaving him with lacerations to his hip, back, arm and shoulder. The victim was transported to the hospital in serious condition. He told police that he believed Owens was trying to kill him.

Owens has a history of violent crimes, including five incidents which occurred over the past 18 months. (Daily Chronicle)
