Survey: Cooking Can Make You More Attractive

Finding someone who matches your freak can be a challenge, and it’s just one of the reasons dating these days is a bit of a mystery. If you’re wondering why you’re still single, a new survey suggests it might have something to do with ordering takeout.

It turns out, not knowing how to cook can give an instant ick to potential partners. DatingAdvice.com polled 500 adults to find out how cooking can affect attraction and connection in relationships and found:

  • Three-quarters of respondents find a partner more attractive if they know how to cook.
  • Another 47% say it’s “very important” for a partner to have cooking skills and over 62% say they love it when their partner cooks for them.
  • Getting in the kitchen as a couple is important, too, as more than 90% believe cooking together can improve a relationship.
  • You don’t even have to be a great cook, 80% of those polled say they’d still eat something their partner cooked even if they didn’t like it.
  • If your current love interest can’t cook, it might be worth asking them to learn, as 90% say they would learn to cook if their partner asked.
  • Cooking is so important, 80% consider it a “love language” in a relationship.
  • But it’s not a dealbreaker for most folks, as 82% admit they wouldn’t break up with someone just because they didn’t know how to cook.

  • Can’t we just order takeout together, that way no one has to cook or clean up?
  • Sometimes I don't want help in the kitchen. I need my space.
  • Cooking together is fun but so is eating together.
