This Is The True Cost Of “The 12 Days Of Christmas”

Giving your “true love” all the gifts in “The Twelve Days of Christmas” will cost you 5.4% more this year, according to PNC’s Christmas Price Index. For 41 years, they’ve been calculating the prices of the presents in the classic Christmas carol and recreating those gifts doesn’t come cheap.

This year’s report reveals that buying all the things listed in the song will cost $49,263 this year. The cost for each gift is:

  • A Partridge in a Pear Tree - $370.18
  • Two Turtle Doves -$750
  • Three French Hens - $346.50
  • Four Calling Birds - $599.96
  • Five Gold Rings - $1,245
  • Six Geese-A-Laying - $900
  • Seven Swans-A-Swimming - $13,125
  • Eight Maids-A-Milking - $58
  • Nine Ladies Dancing - $8,557.37
  • Ten Lords-A-Leaping - $15,579.65
  • Eleven Pipers Piping - $3,714.96
  • Twelve Drummers Drumming - $4,016.85

And while nearly $50-thousand sounds like a lot, buying all the items repeated over and over in the song will set you back quite a bit more. All the repetitions in the versus add up to 364 gifts with a grand total of $209,272.
