Outside of Florida, it might sound funny, but in the Sunshine State, frozen iguana season is a real thing. When temperatures make that rare dip below the mid-40s, the green iguanas can go into a “dormant or cold-stunned state.” When that happens, they often fall out of the trees that they’re sleeping in and smack onto the ground…with the initiated thinking that they died. They are, however, still alive, and experts say the best move is just to let them be and allow them to recover once the temperatures get back above 50.
