Lost “Masterpiece” Artwork Found And Sold For $2.7 Million

A “masterpiece” painting that’s been missing for over 400 years has been found and was recently sold at auction for an impressive sum. Peter Paul Rubens’ “Christ on the Cross” went missing in 1613, but was recently found inside a townhouse in Paris. It took someone prepping that townhouse for sale to realize that the painting wasn’t just a nice decorative piece, but a historic work of art. The term “priceless” gets thrown around a lot, and…in this case…it’s inaccurate, because at auction the painting commanded a final bid of $2.7 million.
