We make hundreds of choices every day and most of them are easy enough, like what to eat for dinner or wear to work, but others require a little more thought. Choices related to moving, work or relationships - even whether you should text your ex - tend to be more challenging. And thanks to science, we now know which life decisions people consider the riskiest.
In a new, large-scale study, researchers asked more than 4-thousand participants to list the toughest decisions they made recently. And it turns out, people stress about certain categories of choices a lot more than others.
- After analyzing the responses, study authors found that decisions related to work and career top the chart.
- The riskiest choice overall, regardless of age or gender, is whether or not to take a new job.
- Deciding whether to quit a job comes in a close second.
- Some pretty important life choices are much further down the list, like having kids (number 14) and moving (number 19).
- Researchers were most surprised that the top answers didn’t involve health or social activities, like dating, instead, people think occupational choices are the riskiest.

Scott's Thoughts:
- They’re the experts, but deciding to drive is riskier than deciding to get married or buy a house?
- Which life decisions do you stress about most? What’s the toughest risky choice you made lately?
- What life choice do you regret most? What would you do differently, if you could go back?
