Sen. Tim Cane to speak at Radford University's commencement

Virginia Senator Tim Kaine is slated to speak at Radford University's graduation in spring 2018.

Radford announced that Kaine will be the keynote speaker for commencement on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 11 a.m. on the university's Moffett Lawn.

More than 1,700 students are expected to graduate.

Kaine has been serving in the Senate since 2012, where he serves on the Armed Services, Budget, Foreign Relations and Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committees.

"I’m thrilled to be a part of Radford University’s commencement," said Senator Kaine. "For over a century, Radford has been an exceptional Virginia institution that has done tremendous work to educate students for success. It’s an honor to join the graduating class as we celebrate their accomplishments and send them off to the next chapter of opportunities."

Kaine was first elected to public office in 1994, serving as a city council-member and then Mayor of Richmond.
