July 16, 2018 - According to Virginia State Police, one person died following a crash on northbound I-81 this morning in Wythe County. The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
The accident occurred at approximately 11:00 a.m. when a vehicle ran off of the road at exit 72.
The northbound lane remains closed and according to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), traffic is backed up three miles.
