A local Pokemon group went above and beyond the game to honor a young boy with leukemia.
They call themselves the Pokemon Go Lynchburg Community.
They met outside the Miller Park Aviary on July 19, 2018, collecting cards for Aaron Jahna, 11, on social media and in person.
He's battled leukemia for nearly two years and is at St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital in Tennessee.
Jahna and his mother, Yolonda Principio, are from Rochester, New York.
Aaron had a unique wish: 1,000 Pokemon cards. The Lynchburg group granted his request, and then some, collecting nearly 20,000 as of the afternoon.
It's the perfect birthday gift, as he turns 12 on Sunday, July 22.
