July 23, 2018 - Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department responded to a single vehicle crash last night at 11:05 p.m. in the 1900 block of Mud Pike.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2015 Ford Focus ran off the roadway and overturned down an embankment.
The vehicle was occupied by a 16-year-old female and a 16-year old male (driver); both from Christiansburg. Members from Christiansburg Fire and Rescue responded. The female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver of the vehicle was transported to New River Valley Medical Center with serious injuries.
The names of the individuals are not being released since both occupants are juveniles.
The crash is still under investigation.
