Lynchburg reminds residents of brush, debris disposal options from flood

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- Many Lynchburg residents' homes sustained damage from recent flooding.

Lynchburg residents can get rid of bulk or brush at the Concord Turnpike Convenience Center located at 2525 Concord Turnpike at no charge and no weight limit.

They are open Tuesday through Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

If you go, you must show a proof of residency, such as a driver's license or a utility bill.

Usually there is a 500 pound weight limit for household trash. To assist in cleanup, that weight limit will be lifted starting Tuesday, August 14 until Friday, August 31.

The city of Lynchburg will also be picking up damaged items from the curbside.

City officials want you to remember several guidelines when it comes to curbside pickup:

•There is no need to call to schedule a pick up.

•Place brush and/or bulk items at the curb. Please keep it separated from trash. Please note that it may take up to three weeks for collection of the brush and bulk.

•Brush must be shorter than eight (8) feet in length and no bigger than three (3) inches in diameter. Tree stumps are not allowed.
