Gleaning for the World To Help Those in Hurricane Michael's Path

Hurricane Michael is currently a category 4 storm and Gleaning for the World is preparing to respond.

Beginning tomorrow, Gleaning will hold a disaster relief supply collection at Sam's Club on Ward's Road in Lynchburg.  All items and financial gifts donated to this collection will go directly to those impacted by this latest natural disaster to hit the United States.

In a storm of this magnitude, devastating damage can occur.  Many homes are likely to incur serious damage such as the removal of roofs and decking. Trees can snap or uproot, which can result in road closures and structural damage to buildings. Electricity and water lines can receive severe damage, resulting in widespread outages for days to weeks after the storm passes.

"While Gleaning for the World is still responding to Hurricane Florence in the Carolinas, we cannot ignore this massive storm nearing the coast of Florida.  We are preparing to send supplies as early as next week to help those affected by Hurricane Michael," Gleaning's President, Jeane Smiley-Mason said.

Gleaning for the World relies on donations to help those in need.  To help those impacted by Hurricane Michael, the public is invited to visit Gleaning's disaster relief collection site at Sam's Club on Ward's Road between Thursday, October 11 and Saturday, October 13, from 10:00 a.m. -6:00 p.m. each day.

Disaster relief supply lists will be given at the door for those wanting to donate products.  Financial gifts can also be given at the collection site, or online HERE by specifying "Hurricane Michael" in the comment box of the donation page.
