Our First Taste Of Winter Thursday?

We're tracking the potential for a wintry mix of rain, sleet and snow on Thursday.

The potential wintry weather will come up from the south as a large area of precipitation moves into Virginia. Temperatures will be cold enough on Thursday morning for us to see the first snowflakes of the season, plus sleet.

Morning temperatures on Thursday will drop to near 30°.Snow accumulations in the 1" to 2" range will be possible in the Blue Ridge Mountains including SW Virginia, Roanoke and the mountains of Bedford, Amherst and Nelson counties. It's too early to speculate on the Lynchburg area and Southside, though all local locations will be cold enough for wintry precipitation.
