Police are investigating after two people died in a Botetourt County crash Friday afternoon.
Police said the crash occurred around 1:02 p.m. on I-81 northbound at mile marker 164.7.
They said a car was traveling north on I-81 in the right line when it crossed the center line, ran off the left side of the road, overcorrected and lost control. The car then ran off the right side of the roadway and struck an embankment, causing it to overturn multiple times.
According to police, two of five passengers in the car were ejected.
Virginia State Police report, Juanita Ann Neff, 65, and Charlene Dawn Hodson, 46, both of Strasburg, Va, were killed in the crash.
They were not wearing seat belts and were ejected from the car. They died at the scene.
