Roanoke Rescue Mission Provides Food, Shelter For Hundreds Year 'Round

The Roanoke Rescue Mission provides a warm place to stay on cold nights for hundreds of people.

When the white flag at the Rescue Mission goes up, that means temperatures are dangerously low and anyone is welcome to stay overnight.

Tracy Altizer, the Mission's chief development officer, says they want everyone to be safe, especially in these low temperatures. "Whether your services have been suspended temporarily because of some sort of behavioral issue, it's more important to us that you are kept safe and alive," Altizer said.
