Concord couple wins $4 million in Virginia Lottery scratcher

A Concord couple are the new local millionaires.

The Virginia Lottery said Stanley McIvor's first indication that something unusual had happened was when his wife, Marilyn, walked out of the store toward their car.

"She was screaming, 'We won! We won!'" the Concord man later told Virginia Lottery officials.

She bought her ticket at Carson’s Mart on Village Highway in Concord.

Stanley said that she she went into the store, he gave her some extra cash to buy a Super Cash Frenzy ticket from the Virginia Lottery. She scratched it to reveal the $4 million top prize.

"We’re still in shock," he said as they claimed the prize at the Lottery’s Customer Service Center in Farmville.

The couple had the choice of taking the full $4 million over 30 years or a one-time cash option of $2.6 million before taxes. They chose the cash option.

The couple, married 28 years, say they have no immediate plans for the winnings except to pay bills.
