Winter Storm Warning Roanoke/Lynchburg

UPDATED 9AM TUESDAY

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for most of the Roanoke/Lynchburg Region Beginning 6pm Tuesday night.

The severe threat comes from the freezing rain and ice that may accumulate through the day on Wednesday, not the expected snow. Most snow accumulations will remain at 3 inches or less.

Late Wednesday, freezing rain will change to just a plain cold rain before ending.

Roads, particularly during the day on Wednesday. The NWS states: Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice. Travel could be nearly impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.
