BEDFORD, Va. (WSET) -- Fire crews are battling a massive fire at the old Bedford Middle School. According to the emergency dispatch, crews responded to a fire in the 500 block of Longwood Avenue.
They say the call came in about 3 a.m. Thursday morning. As of 6 a.m., crews are still working to put out the fire. They are also working to determine the cause of the fire.
The former middle school was vacant as renovations were underway to convert the inside into lofts. Motorists who live or work around the area are asked to take different routes for their morning commute.
