Winter Weather Moves in Overnight

Wednesday afternoon update: Snow totals have been bumped up an inch or so.

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) — A Winter Weather Advisory and Winter Storm Warning are in place for some locations ahead of snowfall and slick travel conditions Thursday.

Snow will begin as early as 8 p.m. Wednesday and continue until 5 a.m.

Central and Southside Virginia will see snowflakes falling -- but melting until temperatures get closer to freezing around 2 a.m.

Snow accumulation is likely for the New River Valley and along the Blue Ridge Parkway, as these locations will stay below freezing for the duration of this quick-moving event.

It is possible for Lynchburg, Danville and Roanoke to accumulate snow, but the amount will depend on how quickly temperatures fall overnight.
