45 structures in the area of Bethany Church Circle and Crockett Rd off Rt. 221 near Virginia Memorial Park were damaged and emergency crews are still clearing the debris.

Residents were alerted at 7:33 am Friday of a tornado warning in the area of Bethany Church Circle.

Darryl Williams says his roof was torn off and his barn was leveled.

"This is my first tornado. It was pretty strong, pretty scary there for a minute," Williams said.

“We got the alerts on our phones and we were just gathered downstairs and it was pretty calm and then all of a sudden we saw the wind really pick up and gathered everybody together and went under the stairs," Williams said.

His neighbor, Danny Taylor has lived in the same home with his wife for 54 years and saw significant damage to his home.

The storm tore off his roof and trees crushed his two cars, he says he is devastated.

"It's my life and it's shattered, my life is shattered. I don't know what else to say," Taylor said.
