DANVILLE, Va. (WSET) — A boy who was missing overnight in Pittsylvania County was found safe early Wednesday, accompanied by his neighbor's dog.

Tuesday night, 4-year-old Wyatt, of Danville, wandered from his family’s back porch and was missing for approximately 10 hours.

After hours of searching by state agencies and volunteers, a search party found him 3/4 of a mile from his home -- and he wasn’t alone.

His neighbor's 2-year-old lab mix, Hershey, was found with him.

Marlon Compton, Wyatt’s neighbor, says Wyatt is good friends with his grandson and is always running through the woods with Hershey.

He says Hershey follows the boys wherever they go.

Compton adds he was excited when volunteers found Wyatt and Hershey together, and he is proud of Hershey for being there for Wyatt.
