Lynchburg's 'Get Downtown' Saturday Has Been Canceled Due to Weather

Saturday's Get Downtown festival on Main Street in Lynchburg has been canceled due to the expected wind and heavy rain from the remnants of Hurricane Ian.

From the Downtown Lynchburg Association:

We have made the difficult decision to cancel Get Downtown. While the path of the hurricane continues to change, it is still extremely likely that Lynchburg will be hit with the storm this weekend.

We have consulted with the City of Lynchburg’s Department of Emergency Services, as well as the weather team at WSET.

This decision is being made with the safety of our vendors, entertainers, and festival goers in mind.

While we wish we could simply reschedule this event, but due to the size and scope of coordination, we are not able to do so.

This event takes many months of planning and preparation, as well as the coordination of hundreds of individuals, companies, and organizations.

We know this is a disappointment to many, and especially to the downtown business community, who have been preparing for this event for weeks if not months.

Thank you again for your support and understanding.

If you have the opportunity to head downtown and support a small business this weekend, we would highly encourage you to do so.
