From WSET Chief Meteorologist George Flickinger:

Parts of the area will see the first snowflakes of the season on Tuesday.

All of us will experience rain and cold temperatures.

A huge expanse of cold air has pushed across much of the US, and our week will be the coldest so far this season in Virginia.

A low-pressure twirl will move across the region Tuesday with cold rain for everyone.

A wintry mix of freezing rain and snow will occur across mountain elevations.

Winter Weather Advisory: This is for counties near I-81. Rain for everyone in the ABC13 area.

Small accumulation of a wintry mix is possible starting Tuesday morning. Rain all afternoon, continuing into Tuesday evening.

This advisory is mainly intended for mountain elevations, though all locations in the ABC13 area will be cold and wet.

Little to no wintry accumulation in Roanoke. No accumulation for Lynchburg or Southside.

Several school systems are operating on a two-hour delay Tuesday.
