As we previously told you, Jamie Lynn Spears’ eight-year-old daughter Maddie was seriously injured in an ATV accident, and it appears that she’s on the mend.
“With her father, mother and stepfather by her side, Maddie regained consciousness mid-day Tuesday, February 7,” the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Department tells “People” in a statement provided by a Spears family rep. “Doctors were able to remove the ventilator today and she is awake and talking…it appears that she has not suffered any neurological consequences from the accident.”
The good news comes as reports suggest Maddie shouldn’t have been driving the vehicle in the first place. TMZ reports that the instruction manual for the Polaris RZR 170 reads that children under the age of 10 should not “operate or ride as a passenger in this vehicle." It does state though that the vehicle’s use should only be allowed if parents “determine that your child has the ability and maturity to operate safely."
And apparently this isn’t the first time an RZR has flipped over. There are several lawsuits pending in which people were injured when the vehicle flipped.
