VIDEO: Fire Takes Out 10 Buildings in Downtown Raleigh

Downtown Raleigh, North Carolina was lit up last night, but it was no celebration. A massive five-alarm fire had engulfed an apartment building under construction.

Crews continue to battle the blaze that started last night near the Glenwood South restaurant and bar district. It spread to other buildings in the area, causing several evacuations. Some power lines also caught fire, leaving hundreds of people in the dark. It's not certain when service will be restored, but utility workers are on the scene.

Nearly 100 firefighters have been working the scene since 10 p.m. last night. It apparently took only minutes to spread. The American Red Cross is helping people affected by the blaze. The cause is under investigation. No one has been injured.
