Norfolk PD's "Cops And Curls" a Special Event For Young Girls

The Norfolk Police Department officers in Virginia recently danced the night away with some special dates. They were at the annual ‘Cops and Curls’ event which aims to “uplift, motivate and encourage positive self-esteem” in six to 12-year-old girls from underserved communities by having them spend time with officers.

“Cops and Curls is an additional interface occasion to connect and channel positive relations between our youth and our officer’s,” explains Police Chief Larry Boone. “We nurture our outreach with the curls throughout the year with activities, so that they understand we care and also recognize us as mentor’s."

Not only did these little ladies get to dress up and dance with the officers in a ballroom, they got a corsage and a walk on the red carpet, too. That’s a night they’ll never forget!
