With most people back from their spring break vacations they’re likely now focused on what they’ll be doing this summer, and it seems Americans have very definite ideas on what makes a perfect vacation.
According to a new survey, Americans’ ideal trip involves their boo, with 61% of those surveyed preferring to travel with their spouse or partner. Most travelers plan their trips well in advance, with folks booking their vacations a full 71 days out, while hotels, by far the most popular accommodations (59%), are booked just 22 days before a domestic trip and 44 when traveling out of the country.
Overall, Americans typical vacation length is 14 days, while globally seven days is the average length of a getaway. Price is the most important factor when booking a vacation, and to save money, 35% of people would be willing to give up shopping if it meant having money for a trip.
As for where everyone is interested in going this year, Europe continues to be popular. London is the most popular searched destination for Americans, although Barcelona is also rising in popularity. And regardless of where they go, folks want to tell friends about it, with more than a third of Americans saying they share photos from their vacation on social media, more than any of the 23 nations surveyed.
