Summer Weather Can Trigger Migraines... What You Need to Know.

posted by Rip Wooten -

Yes, summer can give you a big headache.

One Ohio doctor is explaining how fluctuating weather this time of year can wreak havoc on a headache. Doctor Jennifer Kriegler [[ KREEG-LER ]] with the Cleveland Clinic says a change in weather is a major migraine trigger for many of her patients. Research shows changes in barometric pressure can be associated with migraine headache attacks. Doctor Kriegler says experts believe that a fall in barometric pressure may force fluid into tissues and cause a disruption in fluid balance. She says people who suffer from migraine headaches will often sense when barometric pressure falls and become stressed.

The good doctor explains stress hormones can provoke a headache, so managing stress through exercise or relaxation techniques will help keep it away. Hydrating helps too.
