Flights Delayed at JFK Airport by... Turtles!?

Transit officials are blaming turtles for recently delayed flights at New York's JFK Airport.

The Port Authority said nearly 40 diamondback terrapins crawled out of Jamaica Bay and onto the airfield late Friday afternoon. According to a spokeswoman several planes had to wait as the turtles were gathered up by wildlife specialists.

Experts say it's the middle of the turtles' annual migration period which lasts from June until mid-July.Source: NBC New York
