How to Protect Your Computer From Attacks

If HBO’s hack incident does anything… besides give people some early looks at shows… it should remind us that we are not safe from cyber attacks.

Just because we have virus protection doesn’t mean we are safe. Working with expert Jeff Rosen and SpeedGeek, volunteers brought their computers in to have them checked. About half of the devices had malware on them.

There are three simple ways to help protect your computer, but nothing is guaranteed. Try these:

  • Never click on pop-up ads
  • Never open email attachments or click on links from someone you don’t know
  • Back up your files on an external hard drive

When it comes to email, simply looking at the details can tell you if the sender is authentic or not.Source: Today
