New York City Parking Spot Selling For An Unbelievable Price!

The Full Story:

  • A parking spot in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Park Slope is on the market for $300-thousand
  • The last one sold for $280-thousand
  • Reactions are mixed, but at least one person is calling for the city to get involved

If you find yourself in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn, get ready for a parking nightmare. Street parking is hard to find and if you find a garage, it's going to be pricey. In fact, one spot is currently on the market for $300-thousand. That's right, $300-thousand.

Another parking spot in the same garage recently sold for $280-thousand, so clearly people are willing to cough up the money, which, as another resident points out, is the same price as a house in other parts of the city.

The reaction to the price tag is mixed, but Julia Kite of the advocacy group Transportation Alternatives thinks it's time for the city to get involved. "They are really becoming an investment opportunities," she explains. "And it's a shame because it robs people who live in Park Slope of a place to keep their car, and we think it might be time for the city to institute some kind of residential parking system."
