Bedford County Sheriff Mike Brown said that there were no safety or security risks for anyone in the 10-15 mile radius of where the body was found on Roaring Run Road.
But, they are asking if anyone saw something out of the ordinary, to please call them.
Police confirmed that every law enforcement event on Tuesday, including the school lockdown, in Bedford County all pertains to the death investigation.
Sheriff Brown said people were being detained, but there are no formal charges and he couldn't say how many people were arrested.

GOODE, Va. (WSET) - The Bedford County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a body was found in a rural Goode Road.
Officials say a motorist called 911 around 9:30 p.m. Monday night reporting the body was on Roaring Run Road.
