Police: Car hits utility pole, closing part of Fort Ave for hours

YNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - Lynchburg police say a car crash has part of Fort Ave closed for the next several hours.


They say the crash happened around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday near Rutherford Street in the 3500 block of Fort Ave.

Lynchburg Police say the vehicle struck a utility pole which is damaged and will need significant repairs.


Appalachian Power estimates that between 350 and 400 people are currently without power.

According to police, no one was injured in the crash.
