In Haverhill, Massachusetts, there’s one kid that always has the coolest Halloween costumes in the neighborhood: Tommy Hardy. He’s been a pirate, the Red Baron from “Peanuts,” “Spongebob Squarepants,” and an X-wing fighter from “Star Wars.” His dad, Tom, designs and makes creative costumes for him that turn his wheelchair into something magical.
And this year is no different, 2017’s costume is a “Game of Thrones”-inspired dragon, because the Hardy family loves the popular HBO show. Tommy will be trick-or-treating in a white walker dragon, complete with wings that flap and eyes that glow!
"When he's in the neighborhood he loves that all eyes are on him and all the kids are smiling, like, 'That's awesome!' giving him high fives,” Tom says about his son, who has cerebral palsy and autism. “It's great for him. I think he loves the positive attention, not the attention of a child in a wheelchair.”
