DUI LAWS APPLY TO RIDING LAWNMOWERS

JUDGE RULES DUI LAWS APPLY TO RIDING LAWNMOWERS

In homage to the Vince Gill song "One More Last Chance," and the line "She forgot about my old John Deere," You can't claim innocence for being drunk on a lawn mower any longer. Back in 2017, Keith Schoeder of Rhinelander, Wisconsin, was arrested for drunk-driving -- on a riding lawnmower.

Since then, Keith has been fighting the conviction in court. You know … because it’s a lawnmower and not a car.

And earlier this week, the 3rd District Court of Appeals ruled that yes, indeed, DUI laws apply to riding lawnmowers just as much as they apply to cars and trucks.

To be clear, here -- Keith wasn’t just mowing his lawn with a Coors Light in his hand. He was actually driving the mower down the streets of town, after leaving a bar -- definitely pushing the limits of the law. (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel)
