Danger High Voltage

Danger High Voltage

Authorities in Utah are warning about a shocking new trend taking place. Outdoorsy people have been spotted "hammocking" between the power lines.

The growing trend, in which people set up fabric hammocks pretty much anywhere they want and just hang out, reached new heights recently. People have been climbing the power line towers and setting up hammocks between the juiced up lines carrying 75,000 kilovolts of electricity. The Weber County Sheriff’s Office, north of Salt Lake City, wrote on Facebook, "This activity is extremely risky. Rocky Mountain Power and the Sheriff's Office will be conducting extra patrols of the area and anyone caught on the towers will be cited for trespassing. We would really hate to see someone injured from either a fall or electrocution."

Scott's Thoughts:

  • And the Darwin Award goes to...
  • Whatever happened to setting up a hammock between two trees? When did it move to power lines?
  • Just wait until one of these idiots knocks out power to thousands of homes.
